The ocean absorbs almost half of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activities, changing its chemistry in ways that may have significant effects on marine ecosystems. Join Scripps marine chemist Andrew Dickson as he explains what we know — and what we don’t — about this emerging problem. Series: Perspectives on Ocean Science [3/2009] [Science] [Show ID: 15754]

Looks like the …
Looks like the model is getting more complicated , because it seems like weather patterns also influence ocean carbon uptake (up to 50%)

where can you find that chart like illustration that shows the acid levels in the oceans but does not provide any numbers or scales.

Now I want to meet you and all the good in a universal and permanent prayer all good for your heart and all that is good for the world every Monday of your life, from 20 to 21 I will be with you in spirit, with my love until the end of the world!
No matter your religion or your atheism I am still near you in your prayers! God bless all mankind, protect you and help you throughout AMEN ALLELUIA
One thing I never …
One thing I never hear scientist and activist talk about is CO2 release into the oceans and atmosphere from worldwide volcanic activity. There is one volcano in the Antartic region that has been estimated to produce more heat retaining gases in one day than all of the human activity is puts out in a year’s time. Some volcanos when they blow, have the force of hundreds of atomic bombs and put up mushroom cloud 20 plus miles above the earth’ surface.
speaking of orbits …
speaking of orbits and milenium cycles, one research into the sediment layers shows a global extentction cycle every 50million years, which is leaving some theories that another orbiting mass may be influecing the gravity fields to swing more asteriods on each of its 50million year cycle to head towards us….
at least you didnt state the more co2 means more green growth fallacy
which i heard of more than i could ever care for
so is your …
so is your recomendations to do buisness as usual in depleting fosil fuels or to look into it more?
no matter what. the rate of time it takes for oil/coal to form is by far longer than our use of them, so the resource is not infinite, and a replacement will be needed, so why wait for a different strategy for energy
other than the it works so why fix it, mentality
most of these …
most of these lectures, when i walk away from them leave me seeing a more relation to peoples industrialization to enviromental change, than any of your points.
what will happen I don’t know
what has happened I do know a bit about like per say the ban of leads use in gasoline. core samples off california show a distinct change when that took effect.
we all can agree i think that was a wise choice to move on.
most of the points …
most of the points you mention TRAA, i’m vaguely familiar with, been some time since i browsed the information your relating here.
wouldnt mind debating some of your points, but i lack confidence in what i know of these issues you bring up.
i kinda recall one report of grizzly polar bear hybrid taken place, but its not a solid confirmed report, like most of the points of yours.
which have reminded me of the oil bearing scientists council debunking fossil fuel use is doing any damage
**2) one word ” …
**2) one word “Extremeaphobes”**
There are creatures in the dark deep ocean living near boiling hot vents with highy toxic and hot fumes blowing all over the place yet they are there and live
There are creatures (Bacteria) that live deep in the artic Ice in below freezinfg enviromnet
Gasing the Coral and Quid “in a bucket” doesn’t allow for the natural course of Evolution to allow future generations to adopt to change and thus is dubious proof that “Life wont find a way” like the vent worms
10) contrary to …
10) contrary to some “Climate Expert” claims Co2 can’t stay in the air for 150 years or the co2 wouldn’t “rain down” to feed the plantts and what CO2 doesn’t rejoin the evaporation/precipitation cy cle sinks into the Soil, permafrost, and Ice thus allowing for the infamous “Ice core records”
And when we shift to Antropologist they say
1) Polar Bear is a Grizzly bear,it adopted and if it gets to warm it will grow brown fur and live in forests once again
2) one word “Extremeaphobes”
9)CO2 is 1.4 times heaver then air & rides the evaporation/precipitation cycle including the new c13 co2 from deep ocean
6) Earth is …
6) Earth is approaching it’s closest orbit to the sun in 33,000 years and this causes core disturbances that cause volcanic activity and earthquakes that can disloge c13 co2 from the deep see thus the “acification of the oceans”
7) the Core disturbance earthquakes also can cause sudden tilts in axis aside from the natural wobble axis change and the earth has gain a 1/2 degree “sudden tilt” from the core indused quakes thus the more extreme winters and summer and suttle change in climate regions
3) Fossil fuels …
3) Fossil fuels contan no c13 co2 that can be released
4) Gasoline contains c7,c11,c12 CO2 and combustion destroys those chains to create heat and energy to drive combustion engines and while it is true the smoldering gunk can oxidize into Carbon monoxide, it well never magically gain another carbon atom in it’s carbon chain or magcally except another oxygen atom to magically become c13 co2
5) C13 Co2 is most common co2 in univere and bulk of it is at bottom of deep oceans
**its going to be …
**its going to be buisness as usual in the USA due to a blind spot in caring for future generations**
Probabbly, considering those in charge not only here from Marine Chemists like this guy and Historians like Naomi Okes, but also Meterologist (weather Scientist),Geologist(Planet Scientist),Ecologist(Enviroment trend Scientist), and are told 1) Weather is controlled by the sun making Evaporation/precipitation cycle not “Magical GHG” 2) Humans can’t make c13 CO2 by burning fossil fuels
heh anyhoots, …
heh anyhoots, doesnt mean i can’t apreacieate your hard work effort and compation in this area still
and giving you a great thank you to everyone for haven all the material here for me to view and read. I also apoligize for the discoherent flow of my reply, due to character count limitiations for each post.
when talking with friends with families and the topic would come up about this, they showed no intrest or given some irrational ideas on co2 build up.
first off, thanks …
first off, thanks on the work and effort by yourself and all researchers in this area and field. oceanography and marinebiology have always been a great intrest to me,
perhaps its because the first memories of being led down to the beach with my aunt holding my hand to the surf. then having a foot and half wave pumel me down to the ground because she kinda forgot the size differences between a toddler and a 5′6″ woman, has kept me from persueing a career in it.
5th believes that …
5th believes that all the facts on gobal warming (which tells me they don’t even fully understand the data and your peoples research into the excess co2) is flawed by placement of the temp. reading stations being interfered with the local enviroment, e.g. placed next to black asphault, or near the exausght of jets at a airport (actual refrences given to me by him)
all of these people are registered voters.
out of the families …
out of the families, one thinks this is still a normal cycle, that perhaps has taken place before that we don’t know about
2nd feels its a gods way of punishing sinners like myself, because i denounced god
3rd doesnt even see the future beyond trying to keep together with a spouse, as he has kids with each woman who believes his facade. to prove he’s a man
4th she’s pretty much like the 3rd person, but only caring on the support and sexual pleasure of the men she can bed
hmm not sure if my …
hmm not sure if my point is getting across correctly here.
its going to be buisness as usual in the USA due to a blind spot in caring for future generations.
When the speaker …
When the speaker talked about the time frames these projections take place in, he tried very well in explaining who will see an who wont see these changes.
talking with friends with kids in usa, they all share a short sightedness in the distance in time they care to prepare for. They want the best for their kids, they love their kids dearly, and hopes of being a grand parent, but no empathy or thoughts on how their kids will love their kids just as much, in wanting the best for them
